Drive from Chennai to Bangalore
On Sunday, March 30th I drove from Chennai to Bangalore. My car is Santro xing and I had filled the entire 35 litres capacity with Petrol before I started from Chennai. When I had reached Bangalore, my tank filled with petrol little less than half tank. My family and our aunt came along with us. It must have been expensive if we had come by III tier a/c. It worked out so economical and comfortable for me to drive all the way.
The roads are like butter; neat and clean with beautiful scenic views on either sides. Avenue of plants can bee seen on the median that splits the road. I felt as though I was driving in a western country or for that matter Singapore. No pain or stress was there while driving. You only cross the towns by means of by-pass roads. Golden quadrilateral is the company that is responsible for these clean roads and it is a central government funding to lay these roads.
There are four tolls that you come across. The first one collects INR Rs.25 , second one INR Rs. 45, third one INR Rs. 35 and the fourth toll collects INR Rs.25. 35 litres of petrol would cost approximately Rs.1750 and adding these toll charges will make the gross amount to be INR Rs.1880. Wait a minute. At the end of the journey am left with less than half tank still full. This means that my total expenses are only INR Rs. 1180/- (incl of toll charges) approximately. This is the expense incurred while driving those 350 kms from Chennai, India to Bangalore, India.
We were 3 adults and one infant in the car. If the same group were to travel in a 3-tier a/c it would cost us INR Rs.600 * 3 = INR Rs. 1800 and the auto charges of reaching the station and home would add another INR Rs.200 to make it to Rs.2000. The same amount might hold good if you travel in Volvo bus.
what are the advantages of driving your car all the way?
Here you go..
1. Very economical in terms of the money that you spend. You save atleast a INR Rs.1000 just for one way
2. You will get the confidence to drive on high ways which is priceless ![]()
3. For those that want to drive a 100 or 120 kms/per hour, this is the right place to drive in
4. You can stop your car at any beautiful place that you want to see
5. The average mileage of my car was close 17 kms. This long drive tunes the engine very well if you have not taken your car for a long time like me
or if its a new car. Mine is a new car which has not gone long distances as I was away from the country for couple of years. So this is a major advantage for my car to be used on to.
6. Your driving gets comfortable interms of attending to nature’s calls ![]()
7. On the way there are places like Yercaud which is a tourist spot. So you can stop by to visit them
8. The route map is so concise and clear that you can reach Bangalore without anyone’s help
9. Another major feat I had achieved is that this the first time I am driving a 350 kms distance from one city to another. So I personally felt very content, happier and excited
So what is stopping you from driving? Go ahead, travel and share your personal experiences and driving pleasures with me
Cheers!
