Trinethreshwarar temple - Thiruvarur

May 8th, 2008 admin Posted in Temples of South India 2 Comments »

I had been to a temple called Trinethreshwarar temple in Thiruvarur, TamilNadu, India. This temple is more than 150 years old and there is poor maintenance. When I had asked about the pathetic state of it to the people living near the temple, they gave a shocking news that the authorities at the temple maintenance board of TamilNadu Government are not willing to fund the temple so that it can be renewed. Instead they have swindled the money for their own luxuries. Everyone knows about it and no one wants to do much about it. Another individual living in the same area has come forward to spend all the money it takes to renew the temple. When I went there, I too informed them of my contribution to the temple. I felt so bad looking at the state of the temple. It has been that bad that the inside of the temple has poisonous bees and none of us are allowed to go in there.

The temple has the main idol of Lord Shiva and Goddess Visalakshmi (Parvati). You also have Lord Ganesh, Lord murugan present in the temple.
